Halloween is a fun and exciting holiday, but it can be a frightening and scary holiday for your smile, especially because of all the sugary candies and treats available. So, if you want to keep your smile in tip-top shape this Halloween so you don’t have to worry about having toothaches and dental issues, our Dr. Bruce Westover team recommends doing the following things:

-Brush your fangs: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste and brush your teeth twice a day—every morning and every night. Doing so will deeply clean the surfaces of your teeth and wash away any remnants of your Halloween candy.

-Floss your chompers: Floss the crevices of your smile at least once a day. As you do so, use an easy-to-use product that slides smoothly between your teeth. Make sure to floss gently around the gumline. You don’t want to harm your oral tissues.

-Avoid sticky, hard, and gooey treats: Sticky, hard, and gooey treats tend to stick to your smile for a long period of time, which is why it’s best to avoid eating these treats altogether. If they stay on your teeth, they can threaten your oral health and cause tooth decay and other dental issues.

-Visit your dental issue-fighting hero, the dentist: If you’re due for your six-month dental checkup, now is the perfect time to visit your dentist! The treatment provided will deeply clean your smile and strengthen your teeth, increasing your chances of fighting the dental issues that your Halloween candy can cause.

If you do these four things, you’re on the right track toward a smile-healthy Halloween in Cottonwood, Arizona! For more information and details, please don’t hesitate to call 928-634-5566 and talk to Dr. Bruce Westover or a member of our dental team. We are more than happy to help you!
